There are many kinds of water in the nature world, which can varied from ocean, river, lake,brook to pond. They may be gentle or wild, noise or silent, but we can feel pleasant with the sound and ripple broght by water. As we all known,water symbolizes wisdom from ancient times, which can be seen in the old sayings Others Mountain,the wise manhappywater. Many poets poetizes water by which beautiful image of water has been passed so far, and that has become an important resource of beauty study. The reflection in the water, keep still or waving, all is of great ornament for its coloful and changeful prospects, hence, water has become a favourite in landscape design.
Chinese is always an expert in water scape design from the old. In Chinese classical design, water is never apart from mountain and the key is to creat atmosphere and beauty. In modern times, with the developement of world economics, there are huge changes in landscape design.People's concern with landscape had focused on a whole city even wider
macroscopical environment rather than development and improvement in small area. From this point, we can know the very problem is to find a way to promote the harmony between artificial environment and natural environment.
This paper embarks from the modern landscape design,take the river landscape design of XIAOHEI river in Hohhot as example, to discuss the symbiotic relationships between water lscape design and neighboring environment.
