country
尤指地域意义的国家，有“国土”的含义。人们一般说到国家大都用country 表示。例如：
He has visied many African countries.他访问过许多非洲国家。
country 还可以表示有某种特色的地区和乡村、乡下。例如：
The country all around the mining town is rough and hilly.这个采矿小镇的周围都是道路崎岖的山乡。
I like the farms and fields of the country better than the tall buildings and busy streets of the city.我喜欢乡间的农庄和田野，胜过城里的高楼和热闹的街道。
nation
指一个主权国家的国民，或者说长期由独立的政府统一管理的人群。他们虽然并不一定来自同一民族，但他们有共同的法律、社会机构、归属和习惯。所以nation 也可译为“国家”。
