This passege mainly tells the generation gap between a father and his son.
Jesse,the son of this father, doesn’t like studying.His father found much homework hidden by him in his room.This father knows that ,jesse shows no interest in studying,so he allowed jesse to be absent from school.He gives jesse some time to think it over whether he needs studying or not.
From the several paragraghs above,we can find rhat this father doesn’t like studying ,either.But he doen’t want his son to be the same as him,so he used another way to educate jesse.He requests jesse to see a movie together with him every week,sharing opinions with each other after that.In order to make no difference among their ideas,behaviour and attitude,this father chose a unique way to educate his son, shortening the generation gap between them.we can learn something from this passage.

This passege mainly tells the relation among the three generation.There is a big generation gap among them.
First of all,from the beginning of this passag ,we can find a important point,that is ,the hero of this story who is michael’s father is polite all the time.He would never show his emotions obviously,because of some reasons which can be found from the next few paragraphs.At the end of this story,we can find that the reason is his father used violence to treat him when he was young.In fact ,he is just afraid ,hidding the the past in his heart.He wouldn’t like himself use the same way his father did.He really loves his son,but in order to protect him,he uses politeness to cover up his emotion.
From this passage, we can find what the gap and problem are, among this family.Because of comunicating with each other in a wrong way.And the result is they hurt each other and there is a far distance among them.
Some families usually fight with each other,resulting in violence between parents and children.To avoid a gap ,or shorten it,the most important thing is that families should have communication, understanding and contact ,share the experence with each other so that to get the same idea.
